Scott curls with the SZ bar

The Scott-Curls with the EZ bar on the Scott bench are a true classic. Many fitness enthusiasts prefer this specific variation of Scott Curls. Additional information about body position and the execution of the movement is available in the following section.

Body position

Scott-Curls with the EZ bar can be performed both standing and sitting. Adjust the height of the curl bench so that you can comfortably place your arm on the pad with a straight back. In both variations, it is crucial to maintain a straight back with a slight arch in the lower back. Your legs are firmly planted shoulder-width apart on the ground to ensure sufficient stability. Additionally, grip the EZ bar with an underhand grip. In the sitting position, choose a grip slightly narrower than shoulder-width. When standing, you can also opt for a slightly wider grip extending beyond shoulder-width.

Movement execution

In the seated version of Scott-Curls with the EZ bar, exhale as you lift your forearms upward. The elbows remain consistently on the pad of the bicep bench. Only your forearms move, rising nearly perpendicular to the ground. Then, inhale and return the forearms to the starting position without losing the overall tension.

In the upright execution of Scott Curls on the curl bench, you initiate by flexing the forearms upward. These are previously resting on the padding and now move upward over the elbow joint. The upward movement is aided by exhaling. Once the arms are nearly perpendicular to the top, you can pause and return to the starting position, with the arms almost fully extended.
