Dumbbell concentration curls

Concentration curls with dumbbells are a proven classic. Here you will find all the essential information for the correct execution of the exercise while sitting. As an alternative, you can also perform the exercise while standing. In this case, it is referred to as Arnold Curls – named after the Austrian bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Body position

For concentration curls with dumbbells, choose a weight bench, on the edge of which you take a seat. Your legs are spread apart, feet firmly planted on the ground for stability. Slightly leaning forward, hold a dumbbell in one hand with an underhand grip. The elbow rests on the inner side of your thigh. Keep your back straight and engage the muscles.

Movement execution

Exhale as you bend your forearm upward, performing the movement as far as possible. Inhale as you subsequently lower the forearm until it is almost completely extended. The slight bend serves to protect your elbow.

Later in the text, you will find more detailed information about the most common errors during the execution of the exercise.
